Cri-Cri jet
20/09/16(Tue)14:00

This Cri-Cri is the smallest manned twin jet engine in the world. It was converted from its previous two piston engines to use two Czech-built PBS TJ20A turbojets. Each engine weighs only 2.1kg and produces 20kg of thrust. At idle, the engine turns at 35,000 RPM and at max power, 120,000 RPM. The two engines together consume 1.3 Litres of fuel per minute. The engines have to be overhauled every 50 hours of operating time.

I would imagine that 1.3L/min is only on full thrust which would only be on take off. Even then this isn't a plane for long flights. These little engine would be great for powered gliders though.

>>32950 I would have to opt for the prop job since it has a decent range and cruising speed. I can't reason owning a jet-job with only 11 minutes of run time.
I like the size. Lifting off quickly and landing in a short space would have many advantages.

>>32942 Because this is a kit aircraft the specs vary from site to site but according to the site below the Cricket has a 15 Liter (6 US gals, 35 lbs) fuel tank.

This would mean that the jet version has 11.5 minutes of run time. I do recall that jet/turbine engines require more fuel during start-up, so it could be much less time up in the air.

MC-15 Cri-Cri with 2x15hp engines

The original MC-10 Cri-Cri with two piston engines has a cruising speed of 170 kmh / 92 kts / 105.6 mph and a range of 750 km / 466 mi / 405 nmi.

Engine is amazing for its size but with the given fuel consumption and the size of the plane, the range must be fairly short.

The Colomban Cri-cri (English: the chirp-chirp sound made by a cricket) is the smallest twin-engined manned aircraft in the world, designed in the early 1970s by French aeronautical engineer Michel Colomban.
