No Man's Sky Beyond [update]
15/03/19(Fri)21:28

coming Summer 2019

No Man’s Sky Online includes a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together. Whilst this brings people together like never before, and has many recognisable online elements, we don’t consider No Man’s Sky to be an MMO – it won’t require a subscription, won’t contain microtransactions, and will be free for all existing players.

The fun of this game for me was exploring and now that I've seen it all I can't get too interested in it. It's still possible that in the future an update might make more fun again but I'm not holding my breath.

We get The Outer Worlds first in October, 25th. I'm looking forward to that, it's the only good thing on the horizon in the UK :/

Well, there is this.

And the missions too, the submarine mission is simply navigate to underwater building/freighter and interact with computer. It just isn't fun.

And most of the base computer quests is waiting, lol :/

I'm eagerly waiting for Cyberpunk 2077..although I'll keep some reservations.

01/09/19(Sun)23:04

It depends how far you can jump in one go, but I think it's generally 50-100+. I think it tells you how far each system is from the centre on the map.
Yes it does get tedious :/
The game would be more fun if the worlds had more variation, but instead after a while you've pretty much seen it all.

01/09/19(Sun)09:47

How many jumps to the core? I'm close to 50 now and still haven't reached it, it's getting tedious.

30/08/19(Fri)21:29

I finished the main quests before 'beyond' and I don't think that's changed but there might be a few new side things I haven't done.

28/08/19(Wed)14:23

Yes, I did notice that too but I had it working on several occasions. Although the access door never wants to open although this could be a mod issue :|

Btw, did you finish the main quest(s)?

28/08/19(Wed)12:18

The problem with the new landing pad is that you don't seem to be able to attach it to things like you could before. I hope it gets fixed so I can add them to my mountain base again.

Hello traveller!

I know if you dig deep enough you hit water. But yeah, the mountains I dug in didn't have a core.

In other news I just found out you can sit on the bench. Pity no drinks are served ;)

24/08/19(Sat)11:19

I think there is just a maximum depth you can dig so if the mountain is big enough you hit that limit and can't dig any further. Pretty sure a smaller mountain could be hollowed out completely.
You can dig in to any ground but only so far. You can't dig to the centre like in Astroneer :/

Is your skull hollow?

Really? I must have missed the core when I dug the stairs. That will be my mission: Can you hollow out any Mountain?

22/08/19(Thu)12:39

It would be cool if you could completely hollow out these mountains to make a base but I found there is a solid core in the middle you can't get in to :/

Good to see these power mods starting to appear.

I did have landing pads on my base but they vanished after the update. I don't seem to be able to rebuild them. I hope that gets fixed.

Or just mod it: https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1117

Looks like solar panels and batteries are quite effective. You can generate quite a lot of power in a day and store it for later. I guess you could use a battery with a generator to store the power and not waste it all.

18/08/19(Sun)10:19

I only one base computer too, I haven't found it to be a problem.

I see there are solar panels and batteries which might make the power thing a bit better but I haven't tried it yet. I'm pretty sure I'll mod it as soon as I can.

18/08/19(Sun)08:31

I only have one base computer placed on top of the mountain/hill ( >>35674) and it reaches all the way to the bottom. So I guess they changed that.

The string is no longer present in the MXML file. Just to check it our I've added the string with a value of 30000.

By the way, I redone my previous base with just 4 square buildings, a stargate, 1 door, and 2 tech modules (vehicle and base) and it only needs 3 power stations to run.

I'm still waiting on a mod that changes the power usage. I did a little test; fully charge one base then transport through the star gate to other base and fully charge it and lastly transport back again..only to find out it ran out of fuel! wtf

Looks like the build size has increased anyway as the wiki now shows the limit is 20,000 components. I was much lower when the game was first released and lots of people on PC increased it to 10,000.

The setting I changed was in the file c:\program files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\No Mans Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS\TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML.

<Property name="BaseBuildingLimit" value="10000" />

I think it was originally 2000.

From the wiki:

There are limits to the size and number of components allowed when building a base, which are the following:

The size limit is visualized by a large column with a radius of 150u centred on the base computer.
Bases are currently limited to 20,000 components per save and 3,000 per base.

Given that bases can now be constructed anywhere, however, it is possible to overcome these limitations somewhat by building large "megabases" by placing several base computers near one another. To break the vertical limit you will have to place a base computer, remove the previous base and return to the new one effectively raising the centre of the base.

Seeing your base I also created a new base on top of a rock. Now I only need an elevator.

>>35673 Do you have a link to that mod/edit cause I couldn't find it?

17/08/19(Sat)21:35

>>35672 It is my base, and the only mod is and edit to an xml file to allow an increased build size :D

I did it! I under-powered my base. I really hope someone will create a nuclear power station. Cause I probably will need a lot of power stations.
That or start over or build a smaller base :(

My base loaded in ok except my landing pads have vanished which is a pain as it's on top of a very steep mountain and now I have to land on the ground.
The power thing is a bit of a pain in the arse. I built the thing filled it with a lot of resources to find it will only run for 1 hour!!! WTF!

May be I'm missing something, I'll take a look later.

The online bit might be interesting. The VR part won't be much use to me but I'll be interested to see what you think of it.
Hopefully there'll be some other content to make exploring the universe fun for a while again.
And fingers crossed it doesn't fuck up the existing bases I have! :D
