>>31953 I don't know that it's truly a mechanical keyboard but the quality is very high and it's the nicest keyboard I've used since my classic IBM keyboard from the 90's I used to have.

23/12/15(Wed)20:11

is the keyboard mechanical?

15/12/15(Tue)09:28

>>31892 Loving it. I'm even pleased with the keyboard, which is often a disappointment on laptops.

13/12/15(Sun)14:55

Your experience after a weeks use?

09/12/15(Wed)16:40

>>31860 It almost as if Intel seem to know what they're doing! :D

thx, wow you scored better than my overclocked i5-4670k with a R9 280x..only 7692 points. So a newer gpu (duh) and 4 more cores (HT) do matter. http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/9645242

Score so far:

i7-4790k: 12530
i5-4670k: 7692

08/12/15(Tue)23:29

I'm happy with the performance for the time being so I probably won't overclock anytime soon, but never say never.

>>31856 Nice score :)

I just did a rerun of 3dMark on my main gaming rig through steam, the results are higher than when I ran the program without steam :/
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/9644286? I does show a much lower ram frequency though..must be a bug.

>>31847 I saw the review with the most expensive model (€2600!). nvme-ssd support, a Thunderbolt port, a usb-c port, ips screen, plus the ability to overclock.

>>31849 Impressive score for a non-oc. Are you gonna try overclocking or meh?
I did the test too on my main gaming rig..it was a bit more than your l-top, I won't bore you with it. But and yes..you PASSED!

I'm going to run those test on my other rigs too, maybe one of them matches yours ;)
Nemesis: i5-4670k @ 4.0GHz(OC) / 8GB @ 2133MHz / R9 280X 3GB @ 1300Mhz(OC) & 1715MHz memory(OC)
DragonGlass: i3-4160 @ 3.6GHz / 8GB @ 1600MHz / GTX960 2GB

08/12/15(Tue)16:30

I ran the test and got 8438. Did I pass? ;D

08/12/15(Tue)15:40

>>31846 It won't be as quick as a desktop with the smae spec, the desktop GPU's run a little quicker, but I'll down load the test and post back later.

>>31846 Expansion is not too bad. I have a 1TB HDD and 500GB SSD with room for another SSD if I want it. It's also possible to add an external graphics card via a special port but it's pretty expensive and not really worth it.

08/12/15(Tue)14:25

Just to test, could you run the 3DMark Fire Strike bench? And post the results here? Would really like to see how it fares against a 'old skool' desktop.

Sweet sweet expansion

If you do have any issues go here: http://www.merlins-bar.com/threads/3370.html ;)

I should re-install GTA5 too, and add some crazy car mods. https://www.gta5-mods.com/vehicles

>>31828 Windows 10 seems to be behaving better on this new laptop than the old one. but it's early days so I'm sure something will appear soon...
Fallout 4 looks stunning compared to the old laptop, as does GTA V too :D

30fps?!! bleh..that's console ratings ;)

So, how does W10 feel? And Fallout4, how does it run?

06/12/15(Sun)15:20

If gaming on battery it automatically limits it self to 30fps to save power, although you can disable that. When I'm gaming I make sure it's plugged in.
I find the software that controls the lighting slightly limited but thankfully the data is saved as xml so I can edit it to do whatever I like :D

I'll bet the battery life is horrible if you use all those leds and game on it. But it does illuminate the room nicely :D

05/12/15(Sat)23:57

>>31822 It's not a display, just illuminated when you use it. The laptop has 10 different light zones which can all be different colours or cycle colours etc. You can also just turn all that off :D

05/12/15(Sat)19:58

Nice! Very handy are the macro keys.
But >>31815 why does the trackpad glow? Is it a display?

05/12/15(Sat)15:20

>>31818 It's entirely possible they are a smarter purchase :D
