I Have Returned From the U.S.S. Oriskany!
13/06/11(Mon)19:55

Just barely! Our dive on Saturday was a wonderful dive! The new HD camera performed beautifully! However, the video I made with it is just over fifteen minutes long! I do not yet have the software to edit the HD type video! My Windows Movie Maker won't work with it!
Also! We had the riskiest dive ever! All of use went waaay over our safe dive limit! We past the "no decompression limit! We had to decompress for over ten minutes due to the fact that we dove below the recreational diver limit! OOPS! :S I boarded the boat with lest than 200 psi, and an empty spare-air tank! Oh yes, and our boat was taking on water, and listing badly to port! The bilge pumps had all failed on the port side! It was a great day of diving! :D

Do you have a Bittorrent client? I have BitComet and it works fine (it's free btw)

18/06/11(Sat)16:05

Hey Grim! I tried to download the video converter here, and it froze up! Any suggestions?! :)

17/06/11(Fri)12:51

Awesome! When are you getting your own Discovery channel? :)

17/06/11(Fri)12:06

Thanks Vis! But stupid me left the color correcting lens back in the vehicle! I wanted to see how well that would have worked! You CAN see the true colors when the flood light hits the ship close up though! ;)

17/06/11(Fri)04:07

great stuff, seafox. the blue color is really amazing on that camera!

>>9963 We began our dive on the starboard side, and were pretty much even with the flight deck, which was a big no-no because it's now too deep!
We swam to the port side and you can just barely make out the flight deck! I think that fish was an amberjack! Good eating! ;D
Funny you should mention the spearfishing, because we did that the next morning! I myself didn't do it, but I have video coming soon of the guys spearing a couple! Although I was more interested in the two wrecks where we spearfished! :)

15/06/11(Wed)11:22

I could make out your visit to the bridge and some of the conning tower but, correct me if I'm wrong, did you make it down to the flight deck or below that? There's a picture of her slipping after the charges went off on wikipedia...took a little planning so she'd land on her keel upright. Are those tuna in the first video? You guys ever do any spearfishing?

>>9948 I had to get on the MediaBrowser website to see it! Go figure! ;D

14/06/11(Tue)15:43

wow, a manual. How does THAT look like? ;)

14/06/11(Tue)15:24

UPDATE: While actually READING the instructions to the MediaBrowser that came in the camera, I have learned how to trim the videos shorter to be able to fit them on YouTube! I should have them on there later today, because right now I need to quit fooling with it, and go to work! ;D

>>9942 Yes, I knew that! My Mother also had a cousin that served abourd her! He is still alive today!
During the first dive on Saturday, we were a little disoriented at first! We were desceniding down & down, and not seeing the flight deck! One look at my dive computer, and looking at a depth of 137 feet, I realized we were on the starboard side! =O
I tried to get Scuba Jims attention because he was well below me! He turned to look at me, and ask where was our plaque we had placed there six years ago, and I signaled to around the other side! I then signaled him to look at his computer, and he did, and looked back at me with wide open eyes! That ship is so awsome & beautiful that you're in awe, and forget what the hell you're doing! :p

14/06/11(Tue)11:38

I was reading the flight deck sits 135 feet down. My head crumbled at that depth. That would put her keel close to 200 feet. Did you know the last flight of John McCain was from her deck? I remember seeing her in San Francisco and then again in San Deigo. You're a lucky guy, Fox. Go to work, earn more money, and go back soon.

>>9926 The next Bond sounds good! ;D
It's the only fun thing I do that risks my life when I do deep ocean dives! ;) I've been diving since I was fifteen, and this dive was the closest I've come to not coming back without decompression sickness! It wasn't just me this time! All four of us pushed it to the very edge of safe diving! :S
>>9921 Thanks Grimm! I knew you could find something! It's going to take awhile, because this video is a pretty big file!

13/06/11(Mon)22:44

!

13/06/11(Mon)22:44

Is this a hobby of yours or your Profession, dude? or u the Next Bond...

13/06/11(Mon)21:48

It's definitely in the top 100! Yes, we should compile a general consensus of the top 100 things! ;)

13/06/11(Mon)21:39

would you consider piratebay to be among the top 100 greatest things of all time? we should try to compile a general consensus of the top 100 things

13/06/11(Mon)21:37

let's see..
I got it here: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5808293/AVS_Video_Converter_7.0.1.449___Crack-%5BHB%5D

13/06/11(Mon)20:38

Thanks Grimm! I didn't get many good pics because on the second dive, the SeaLife camera case fogged up! :( The HD camera is the JVC madel #GC-FM1 I'll have to look in the pc manuel to see what kind of video format it has!
Where can I get the AVS Video Converter?!
I'm very tired, as I got home a 3am this morning, and got up at 8am for work!

Good to see you made it back in one piece! It was getting dull here (no offense everybody ;)

And as my grandpa used to say: it ain't fun if there is no danger involved. He said that the hour before his wedding ;)

Can't wait for the video! I hope you also made some pictures :)

btw, what type of video is it? avi/mpeg/mov/mkv? you could try to convert it first and then use WMM to edit it.

sounds incredible!! welcome back! :D
