Why would someone do this? There was no explanation with the photo.

vets, in general, seem to know what they're doing. if there were seasonings and a boiling pot of water in the background, i would be worried. funny picture anyway :D hope the cat will be ok

I've googled - some do it to keep the cat cooler in hot climates, or for shedding, fleas, matted fur, etc. I saw several shaved cat pictures - none of them look happy. If I tried this with Scrappy, I'd wind up in the emergency room shredded to pieces!

Looks like it might have been for a procedure at the vet and they just couldn't miss an opportunity to exploit how "goofy" or "silly" the cat looks?
