Yes, Gary was a major steel manufacturer! It all went downhill with the growing overseas steel producers! Then certain people moved in and turned it into a drug capital!

But unfortunately that shit happens over here too. Both Feyenoord and PSV (Dutch soccer) have financial problems. The (local-) goverment jumps in to save the day. But they are cutting budget at defence (bye bye tanks and mine hunters) and at medical care (you want medicine? gimme money!!)!

Indianapolis just spent several million $ of tax payer money for a new field house for the Pacers! They were crying about how bad their locker room looked! BUT, they can't keep all the libraries open anymore because their isn't any money in the school budget for them!
And the Colts new stadium went WAY OVER cost, and they already had to fix the water system, because the pipes have already rusted out! You can't eat at Indianapolis restaurants because they're all triple taxed now! This is why I don't watch sports!

I'm always stunned by the amount of urban decay in the USA. I guess unlike here in the UK you have enough room to just abandon things and start again elsewhere.
