Decided to go wider with curves. From a flat 27" 2560x1440 to a curved 34" 3440x1440 LG UltraGear 34GP950G-B 144Hz monitor. Will let you know in a month or so if was a good purchase..
I wasn't overly impressed with HDR on monitor either. I think it's probably good for photos and videos and maybe games, but for general computing you really don't want a lot of contrast.
I like the idea of 3 wide, I do the two wide on my 1080p laptop screen all the time.
So far I've zero issues in games. It all works fine with the aspect ratio, although there's obviously a bit less fps.
HDR however is a hit and miss, all it really does is brighten the screen. And while it looks good in games, it's too bright when not.
Plus the weird thing is that when you turn on HDR the monitors joystick (monitor's menu) stops working. So you can't turn off the monitor anymore. It's a known problem apparently. SDR doesn't have this issue.
The thing that is probably the best is the website view and watching movies :D
Nice! I considered getting an ultra wide a couple of years back but decided on my 27" 4K monitor instead. I still think an ultra wide might be a good choice if I build a racing/driving setup at some point.
