First real structural integrity test on real condition for the Tesla Cybertruck was successful. No scratches observed.

So far with all these e-vehicles; if they gave us the option to build an outer design of choice I'd go for it, after I win the lottery.

Of course one could convert a car: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vu-fhJQuomQ

In his eyes it maybe, but not to me :D
There was a guy who had one in the village I lived in as a kid. It was my favourite car :)
Another guy had an Aston Martin Lagonda which I thought was ugly as shit. Funnily enough though it also looks like the cyber truck :D

I read it was Bond's Lotus Esprit that was the inspiration...

I think the design is Elon's homage to the blade runner car that according to the film is what we would be driving in 2019. I'm not sure that this vehicle is expected to be a big seller, more a concept car you can actually buy. I expect we'll see a more traditional looking truck at some point to accompany this one that will be the same underlying vehicle just cosmetically different.
The technologies of the vehicle are very interesting, as always from Tesla, and the manufacturing concepts could prove useful to producing affordable electric cars.

I just wonder how heavy that vehicle will be. In the Netherlands if the maximum weight of the vehicle (people and luggage included) surpasses 3500 kg / 7716 lbs it will be considered a truck (not allowed to be driven with the standard drivers license). But I doubt the vehicle will even come to Europe. :(

Then there's the exoskeleton, which is very sturdy, but how well does it do in a crash? Because modern cars are build to absorb the impact that's why they deform and shatter parts on impact.
Now in a 2 way accident the other vehicle will most likely absorb most if not all of the force. But what if it's a single accident? Where will the force of impact go?

I also wonder how many people will actually take it off-road. Speaking from small scale electric off-road vehicles, the batteries drain really quickly.

I am intrigued by this. The concept and mechanics of the truck are brilliant. The available torque of electric and the exoskeleton vs. frame make a lot of sense and push the constraints of design. The aesthetics then turn around and thumb their nose at design concepts as the style is clearly been done and not well received. Arguably the greatest success of this styling has only materialized with the 1977-78 Lotus Esprit. Jan Michael Vincent would love this flash back concept (reference 1977 Damnation Alley). Elon truly loves to shake things up.

When I first saw it I thought CD Project Red had Elon design a "retro futuristic" truck for Cyberpunk 2077 XD
But then I found out it was real and I realised Elon had lost his mind :/
