I know copper is quite expensive these days but you have to wonder why it isn't used to start with on the grounds of safety.
When I was doing mechanic work many years ago we always used copper pipe with a plastic sheath on the outside to help protect it from stone strikes etc.

At least once the truck has rotted away you can sell the copper pipe and retire on the money you make back :D

The rest of the truck is bound to rust away first, but the brake lines will be good.

Wallet situation update....

New rear axle/differential, new parking brake cables, new brake backing plates, rebuilt parking brake cylinders, replaced and upgraded to rust proof hydraulic brake lines, change fluids in front differential, transfer case and transmission.

My brother did a similar job to the gearbox of Renault Clio Sport last year. Not cheap to fix :/
