<cue music from X-files> I don't seem to have that issue >>34578 at work.

Using the same isp, just a tad slower internet connection (25Mbps vs 50 at home), same browser (FF 60.0.2) with same settings (remove everything except cookies).

Weird, right Scully?

Little test

13/06/18(Wed)15:51

>>34578 Weird, nothing has changed on the server. I'll try to find some time to see why this might be happening.

12/06/18(Tue)21:28

Well, now I need to refresh after every post again :( Even ones without pics..

Okay, now it DOES work immediately! I removed the cookie, which seem to do the trick. Let me do a video recording too..will post or not later. Depends if it has the 'issue'.

I also use Firefox (v60.0.1), maybe it has to do with Brexit ;) Damn you politicians!

It worked :/

What browser are you using? I'm using Firefox.

02/06/18(Sat)15:43

I see post without a picture immediately, however if I add a picture I still gotta refresh.
I wouldn't worry about it, I don't mind it.

01/06/18(Fri)16:51

I've added a 1 second delay before the page is refreshed after creating the updated page. Let me know if it makes any difference for you.

01/06/18(Fri)16:34

>>34415 Ok, thanks for the update. I'll look in to it further. If it happens that often it needs to be fixed. The fact that a simple f5 refresh sorts it out makes me think it's a case of timing. When the page is refreshed automatically after the post is submitted it seems that the updated page hasn't been created yet so you get served the old one. The only other possibility is that the page is cached, either in the browser or on the server, and the browser is showing the cached version.
I'm pretty sure caching is disabled on the server so that only leaves the browser and I think it's unlikely that it would be having a problem with this site and no others.
I'll look in to how I might be able to change the timing of the refresh...

29/05/18(Tue)17:54

Well, after pretty much every post I have to F5 in order to see my posted ...erm post.

22/05/18(Tue)20:12

Cool, can't wait to test!

22/05/18(Tue)18:47

>>34394 Pictures have to be checked, renamed, moved to another folder, a thumbnail and a preview image made and then database has to be updated with that information. As well as the usual processing of the comment and thread. Generating the updated page is the last part and if all goes well the browser refreshes to the updated page.

I'll take a look at the code soon and see if I can maybe add a little delay and test if that works.

22/05/18(Tue)17:55

It did work fine after the refresh. I think it has to do with large size pictures (+2MB)

22/05/18(Tue)15:31

Thanks for the report. Did it work as expected after you did a manual refresh?
It shows correctly for me.

I wonder if the problem is the browser refreshes the page before the server has finished updating it.

Got one! In my "Can you name them all?" thread.
Uploaded a new pic > it shows up in the latest comments section > but not in the thread where I posted it until I refreshed the page.

18/05/18(Fri)17:54

will do!

18/05/18(Fri)14:16

Well hopefully that problem is fixed. Let me know if you have any further issues.

If it is a problem again I'll have to force browsers not to cache any pages from this site.

18/05/18(Fri)12:02

>>34373 to answer my own post: No, nope, nee. I dunno why it did what it did at post >>34371 -> >>34372 But I can't reproduce that issue anymore.
I guess it solved itself. Bravo ghost in the machine!

18/05/18(Fri)11:44

>>34372 okay, now it works immediately. Both in the thread and in the Latest Comments section.

Maybe it has to do with added pictures?

18/05/18(Fri)11:43

It works!
So, I post a new comment > don't see that comment when I press submit > but when I F5 and the page reloads I see it both in the Thread and in the Latest Comments section.

18/05/18(Fri)08:29

Seems to work :)

You may need to force a refresh once to be sure you get the updated javascript file but after that you will hopefully find that the latest comments will work correctly.
Please test it and report back here :)

>>34364 Can you confirm it's only the Latest Comments bit that doesn't update for you?
It's only the Latest Comments that doesn't update for me.

The Latest Comments part is a actually a separate file that gets loaded after the main page loads. This is so that I don't have to rebuild every page, several thousand, every time the latest comments is updated. I'm going to look at ways to force that to be reload every time and never cached by the server or the browser. But that's for when my brain is working...

17/05/18(Thu)12:57

A miracle?!

17/05/18(Thu)09:34

And yet the last comment updated correctly :\

17/05/18(Thu)09:34

The browser is using a cached version, but a newer version is available on the server. From the detailed browser history it seems to show that the server responded with the old version and so the browser used the cached version it already had. Not sure why this is, I'll have to dig deeper on the server side.

16/05/18(Wed)23:48

is it a cache thing?

16/05/18(Wed)21:41

I sometimes get that too and I'm not sure what to do about it yet.

16/05/18(Wed)19:53

JC, I sometimes need to refresh the page before I see my post. ELI5
