can we just agree to cut emissions in general and go from there? i do not understand the resistance to healthier lifestyles, cleaner air.

regardless of location, rj, it is an awesome and frightening photo.

the article is an interesting one; they chose the wrong image to go with the words, methinks.

i think china is not as strong as some would suggest, but they are trying. i still believe green energy and the electric car are the wave of the future and i hope america can lead the way..

Vis - is this the data taken by temperature sensors that used to be in pasture land but are now surrounded by blacktop parking lots? ;-)

That's odd! For where I am, this last summer was the coolest since the 70's! I hardly had the air-conditioner on!

it's official:

2000-2009 is the world's warmest decade on record (data dates back to 1880).

"The NCDC reports two sustained periods of warming have been recorded in the past 130 years, one that occurred from around 1910-1945, and the most recent worldwide warming trend, which began around 1976."

Global land and ocean annual surface temperatures through December tied with 2006 as the fifth warmest on record, at 0.56°C (1.01°F) above the 20th century average.

The 2000-2009 decade is the warmest on record, with an average global surface temperature of 0.54°C (0.96°F) above the 20th century average. This shattered the 1990s value of 0.36°C (0.65°F).

Ocean surface temperatures (through December) tied with 2002 and 2004 as the fourth warmest on record, at 0.48°C (0.86°F) above the 20th century average.

Land surface temperatures through December tied with 2003 as the seventh warmest on record, at 0.77°C (1.39°F) above the 20th century average.

Well, it's a cover of a Nelly song and I'd rather think of her taking off all her clothes than him. Though there are a bunch of booty shakin' hoochie mamas in his video.

>>146 I'm going to look into it further, Vis!
I can burn any type of wood, except pine! I burn only wood in it! I don't even burn newspaper with colored ink on it, because it causes corrosion in the firebox! :)
I have soooo many trees that drop limbs constantly, that it's one of the reasons I purchased it! It's perfect for getting rid of them, and heating the house at the same time! ;D

So take off all your clothes

i would like to know the council's reasonings, seafox. if people are burning things that should not be burnt, and there is evidence of it, then the issue should be addressed.

and indeed, this is the busy time for the gas and oil companies! don't let them down!! ;)

10/12/09(Thu)19:31

>>123 You put any kind of limbs in your furnace? ;)

10/12/09(Thu)17:57

>>123 Be careful what you wish for...

10/12/09(Thu)17:41

My furnace is the best thing I've invested in for this house! Yesterday, we had high winds here! I like that, because I know it's going to knock some limbs down! The wind knocked down enough limbs for me to stuff the furnace full without me having to use any of my stockpile!
Talk about free heat falling from above! :D

10/12/09(Thu)16:25

>>117 Crazy, burning wood is carbon neutral, as long as new trees are allowed to grow, but gas and oil are not carbon neutral :/

10/12/09(Thu)16:16

I just found out that the county council is trying to ban outdoor wood burning furnaces! Just because I have one I guess! Or the local oil, and gas services must be bitching about how they're losing customers!

Yeah, what the crazy, hippie, Californian said. Just joking, I'm with you really, even if I am a petrol head.
