Chainsaw to the neck
02/04/14(Wed)20:37

Happened in Pittsburgh and the 21 yr. old is recovering in the hospital. Saw missed all veins and arteries. No more information, other than his name, as to how it happened. Looks like the chain came loose (maybe the doctors did it). Co-workers helped him out of the tree and left the blade in the neck to contain bleeding. Wow!

Yikes. Chainsaws have to be respected!

I wish the article said more or perhaps tomorrow there'll be a follow-up. That's about it.

yikes! Last month I cut down a conifer of 150cm/59" diameter and it took us 3 electric chainsaws of 1800 Watt to do so. With the first 2 the chains came loose and they were freakin hot!
In the end we dug the tree out..and with the weight of 3 grown men (290 kg or 639 lbs) it finally gave in. :D

I do like to know how he was handling the saw, with the saw towards his neck or inverted? It doesn't sound logical to me :/
