That's about it, Grim.

'Curling' was invented by the Scots in the middle 1500's but didn't become a sport within the Olympics until 1998. It requires no skates thus making it something I could do.

>>26862 Ailsa Craig, a small island in Scotland, has most of the source for curling stones for the Olympics. It's now a wildlife refuge but enough granite has been harvested to last thru the next winter games. One family has the exclusive rights to the granite dating back to the late 1800's. (see Wikipedia under 'Curling')

>>26852 And yet there are no 'best snow angel' or 'pee your name in the snow' competitions!?! Madness :/

I'm not following at all. Gimme the highlights!

I was reading an article about those curling stones (the real professional ones). There was a small island (Scotland I think) and one family made most of the ones for the Olympics. Interesting story.

some very bizarre events in these olympics, for sure. But I'm enjoying the coverage so far.

>>26848 lol good joke. I'll bet you're also good at sweeping the deck ;)

This is about all I could do in the Olympics. It's getting more attention this year and I'm glad to see it. UK is looking good in the competition.

I got a kick out of the interview with the young Canadian kid: "I'm just a ball of emotion" he said as he pulled down his sunglasses and looked over the top. I think he was the one that fell down on his belly and skied to a stop like a penguin. Then all 3 medalists hugged and flopped around on the snow not caring about who was better than who. I wish all contestants could handle the competition that way. Maybe we could all learn something from the younger generation after all.

>>26838 and the UK got a medal in snowboarding too :D Our first Olympic medal on snow. We usually only get medals for ice sports apparently.
An Olympic hunger games would be fun, I'd watch that :D

I really wish the news media would keep their opinions to themselves, concerning politics between nations, and just report the true sport of competition. The broadcast of the performances doesn't lie so they can't screw that up at least. I really enjoyed the snowboarding.
