When scientist/engineers take it a bit too far: 31.5” 4K UHD monitor with 3840 x 2160 resolution, just don't ask for the price ($3,499) and judging from the pic neck pains will be added to the list too.

my tv is 3d but it not 3d ready ;)

... And yes you would be right to think that 3D TV isn't really 3D at all, it is of course simply stereoscopic!

>>25921 Yes our main channels and a few others are available in HD, but much of the content is still old SD stuff. Many of the crappy channels still transmit and make SD programming that isn't widescreen :/

>>25926 Yes, 3D is either alternating frames seen through LCD shutter glasses with left and right images for each eye alternating, or a prismatic image made of alternating columns of left and right image data which when viewed through a prismatic lens shows two slightly different images to each eye (no need for the glasses).
The data for the above is created from a dual lens camera and computers to do the conversion work depending on the output type required. This data can be stored as a video file like any other (mpg, avi, mkv etc), but needs the right technology to be able to see it.

First thing that comes to my mind is it even possible to transmit a signal in 3-D? Playing it on a t-v or recording on a multi-camera set-up is a completely different ball game.

really, no HD in the UK? Isn't the BBC1 in HD? Here HD is standard for all 11 networks, the publics were the last ones to convert to HD.

2013 is a bad year for the DVD branche as it has sold 21% less then in 2012. However the BluRay has sold 2% more then in 2012. Reason is not only the inflation but also video-on-demand and netflix.

I guess the next step would be the Holodeck ;)

I don't see 3D tv's being in most homes any time soon. lot of programming is still in SD and not HD, some tv shows aren't even widescreen yet!?!
Oculus Rift is really the first truly useful version of the Virtual Reality systems that first appeared in the 90,s, but there simply wasn't the computing power and electronics to make it work well.

Hmmm. The interview I read was from a reporter's view on the industry and was held with someone from Sony Corp. He admitted the production would fade and be replaced with something new when they invented it. I see your list for what's offered but are the sales big? Do you have friends that buy 3-D movies for large screen T-V's? I don't.

not only gamers but also engineers, designers, etc. And add 3D printers!

3D on DVD/Blu-ray is actually big business, judging by this list http://pirateproxy.net/browse/209 ;)

I was reading an article about all the new gimmicks to sell T-V's and it's crazy to invest in them. Take the '3-D' t-v for example; broadcasting stations never did promise us 3-D broadcasting. DVD's never did either but people paid extra to have one and the industry never intended to use the format. Hoax! The manufacturers have to keep coming up with new ideas to sell t-v's. The human eye is only capable of so much and the gimmicks are useless.
The Oculus Rift, however, is something new that works for gamers.

The Oculus Rift is one invention I look forward to. Setting up a remote camera in a show...oh wait, I mean for gaming..yeah it would be for gaming ;)

There must come a time when more pixels and bigger screen sizes will become totally pointless.
