>>23627.. little mushroom cakes I bake from just a box cake mix. Vanilla ice cream and chocolate shell (hardens) make a great cholestrol-enhanced dessert.

19/04/13(Fri)21:08

>>23550 is that a donut?

Strawberries are evil (damn seeds)

Driscoll's put to good use

...and the Ruskies say we're a decadent society. Pffft!

the driscoll strawberries are really big. they taste about the same as my homegrown strawberries.

this is my first year growing them, and the slugs are happy I've introduced them to the garden. They need a wee bit more attention than I can give them some days.

Overall, I prefer the homegrown.

14/04/13(Sun)23:11

>>23508 I should buy those but strawberries have a louder calling.

The Driscoll's strawberries were gone, but the raspberries were plentiful today.

14/04/13(Sun)00:19

>>23489 Truthfully, how do they compare to yours?

12/04/13(Fri)22:41

>>23467 I just bought me some Driscoll's strawberries at Ralphs. :)

11/04/13(Thu)23:53

>>23398 I like your new avatar, btz! Very classy!

11/04/13(Thu)23:52

I was reading the FDA has found as many as 13 different chemicals on strawberries; I wash them very well. Produce from Mexico (mostly junk) is sprayed a lot in Mexico and then again at the border. Is it any wonder all on this site are nuts? Gotta love my chemicals.

11/04/13(Thu)21:58

>>23456 Kroger = Ralphs for me. And the majority of produce I see comes from Mexico, which is strange (and disappointing). I am starting to buy more organic produce now, as well as grow my own, when possible.

11/04/13(Thu)14:48

>>23457 Driscoll's is doing well with their distribution as I recall seeing them up here in the markets as well.

11/04/13(Thu)13:16

>>23448 You had mentioned Calixico and that threw me. I can or could raise strawberries here; there's farms of them to the south of Houston so the climate if good. However, I eat far more than I could raise and I have hardly any yard space. Driscoll's Strawberries come from Watsonville as do their blueberries. They're about a buck fifty at Kroger so you can follow the reasoning on this. I was just wondering if you'd ever seen the vast fields up there. When I was in Portland Ore, I remember miles of strawberry fields. The college kids would earn extra money by picking them.

11/04/13(Thu)04:46

>>23441 actually i'm in Orange County, which is between LA and San Diego. I've traveled as far north as Hearst Castle, and maybe a little further, but I was a kid and spent that time on a road trip with my Grandpa, so I don't exactly remember.

Regarding the strawberries, this is the second year I've grown them and the plants are just booming! Blueberries too. Nothing like homegrown! Can you not grow strawberries in your climate?

10/04/13(Wed)22:54

>>23417 I thought you lived north of Frisco on the coast. I was going to ask you if you'd ever gone through Watsonville (just south of San Jose). My strawberries come from there.

09/04/13(Tue)00:15

>>23391 I believe our plans changed mid-day and we were to meet in LA to check out the nightlife. We'll have to try that again next time you're in Calixico :)

08/04/13(Mon)15:19

>>23392 Mos Def!

08/04/13(Mon)14:33

>>23391 And next time you are in Milwaukee, I'll need a more notice, but we'll get together for a bite.

08/04/13(Mon)14:15

I nearly met Vis45, But I did meet Cornman in Chicago for something to eat.

16/10/12(Tue)20:50

15/10/12(Mon)22:01

How was Texas? Did you also meet the mommy?

>>20098 btz?

15/10/12(Mon)20:29

Oddo was on holiday in texas this month.

It's a great picture..

I almost got to meet up with blackie (can't remember his username) (3rd from the right on the "our bar" header), but our schedules didn't match up.

Congrats Oddo on getting to do this! How was it? :D

15/10/12(Mon)20:12

Shouldn't there be spoons somewhere?

15/10/12(Mon)17:28

Just for the record, I met up with BrokenArrow also!
But he's not here on the Bar, so I guess it might not count!
Congrats guys! ;)
