New record in 2012 for Giant Pumpkins. Ron Wallace of Rhode Island earned his place in the record books with the first pumpkin to break the one ton mark. 2009 pounds!

Great feature on pumpkins

>>19964 I have heard of a lot of things being done with them. Carved into boats, dropped from cranes, blown up on late night TV shows, but not once have I heard of one being used for cooking. From what I am told, the sonsitency and flavor is just not the same in the giant ones. Most I assume just get displayed and fawned over until the inevitable rot sets in and then, after seed harvest, they become compost.

You think maybe they force-feed those things to get them to grow that large in just one growing season?
