Simple plan: I would appoint this young California Gurrl to be the grand financial planner.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau data released September 13, 2011, the nation's poverty rate rose to 15.1% (46.2 million) in 2010, up from 14.3% (approximately 43.6 million) in 2009 and to its highest level since 1993. In 2008, 13.2% (39.8 million) Americans lived in relative poverty.

If entitlements are such a problem for conservatives, how would co-presidents Oldballs and Seafox go about helping 46 million+ people living in poverty in the greatest country in the world? (Let's keep our answers based in REALITY! - in other words, you cannot bomb the states with the highest poverty rates! ;) )

>>19844 just to come back at your comment: if it didn't matter what the former President said what does it matter what your current President said?

As of May 21, voter registration is at 72.3%, with 17.2 million of the 23.7 million eligible adults registered to vote.

Democrats = 43.4%
Republicans = 30.2%
Independents (also known as "decline to state” or "no party preference”) = 21.3%.

The share of voters registered with other parties is 5.1%.

>>19858 I didn't think there were any repubs in CA. Be a good neighbor and take them over somes scones and have a nice chat. Let them know what they are up against :)

Entitlments and deficits have always been an issue with me. As well as empty legislataion and failed promises.
No fiscal responsibility, on a second term president? I guess that means he had a little more flexibility after he won his last election. (see what I did there?)

02/10/12(Tue)19:10

Did I tell you the Republican Headquarters for Orange County moved into our building two weeks ago??? They have Romney posters up and the whole nine yards. The landlord told them to avoid my suite. ;)

02/10/12(Tue)19:08

I just love that "entitlements" and the deficit are major issues once a democrat is president. Under Bush43, it was the VP who said, "deficits don't matter", and a president who told us to go out and buy things during a time of war. There was never "fiscal responsibility" under Bush43. He ended the "paygo" program, which is very telling.

02/10/12(Tue)19:04

You disagree with what, specifically?

Entitlements are an issue, no doubt, as long as we are clear what is and is not an entitlement.

I have long said that America should require all citizens to have 1-2 years of military service at the age of 18. This would teach accountability and respect, in theory.

02/10/12(Tue)19:04

And when I run for county board, you can feel free to pass these comments around.

02/10/12(Tue)19:02

For the record, "dumb" is really a term I would apply to any of these candidates or of those in the past. Gaffes are just mistakes and we all make them. Dumb would not be able to acheive what these people have in their lives. Truly dumb will continue to claim to be helpless victims, unable to survive do to their lack of desire to pull themselves up. Social services and assistance should be there and needs to exist for those truly in need, but should not be a mindset and a lifestyle for the many that it is.

02/10/12(Tue)18:56

The entitlement mindset is a curse on our society.

I did read the quote, I still disagree. And I can, and that is what makes indvidual freedoms great!

02/10/12(Tue)18:55

I appreciate you not really defending Romney on his 47% comment, as it is indefensible. For me, it's the only Romney quote that is a deal killer for voters, so I won't post anything else he said. ;)

Yeeaaaaaagggghh! - Howard Dean - 2004

02/10/12(Tue)18:45

Stretching a quote, Oldballs?? You read what he said, right? It's here in full glory:

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it -- that that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. ... These are people who pay no income tax. ... [M]y job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

- not worthy of his time? CHECK
- lazy? CHECK

"People say, well, do you ever hear any other voices other than, like, a few people? Of course I do." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Dec. 18, 2008

but also

"Let me start off by saying that in 2000 I said, 'Vote for me. I'm an agent of change.' In 2004, I said, 'I'm not interested in change --I want to continue as president.' Every candidate has got to say 'change.' That's what the American people expect." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., March 5, 2008

>>19832 B? Wow, that is stretching a quote.

A: He stated 57 states, had one more to go. But had yet to be in Alaska and Hawaii becuase he wasn't allowed to go there.

The 57 states gaffe is simply my favorite Vis.

02/10/12(Tue)18:21

>>19828 B is just a bit dumb, but A could get you killed. I know which gets my vote :)

02/10/12(Tue)18:06

Oldballs stretching back as far as 2008 to find dumb things that the president said?? :D Obama, not yet president, clarified his 57 states comment the same day.

which is dumber:
A. voting for a guy who said "57 states"
B. voting for a guy who says 47% of the population is lazy (including Veterans, the elderly, etc.) and not worthy of his time

02/10/12(Tue)17:59

>>19828 the voter voting for either

02/10/12(Tue)17:49

Or is the guy that claims to see dead people dumber?

>>19826 Which would be dumber? To run for leader of the United States of America and not know:
A: That you can't open windows on some planes, while you can on others.
B: How many states are in the United States of America.
