Hackers take down Merlins Bar
10/09/12(Mon)22:40

A hacker took aim at Merlin's Bar today, Monday, September 10, 2012, posting on twitter, "I’m taking godaddy down bacause well i’d like to test how the cyber security is safe and for more reasons that i can not talk now"

CLEARLY, he wanted Merlin's Bar to be taken down.

I received an email from GoDaddy today officially apologizing and offering a kindness. It says:

"As a result of this disruption, your account will be credited for the value of 1-month of service for each of your active/published sites.*"

The credit was for 4.99 for http://catheads.net

What will it be for Merlin's Bar?

GoDaddy now says they were not hacked but rather, had some internal issues:

"The service outage was not caused by external influences. It was not a "hack" and it was not a denial of service attack (DDoS). We have determined the service outage was due to a series of internal network events that corrupted router data tables."

So what do you believe?

>>19464 Right! Like I know how to set up a server!
This was the only site that gave me that connection failure, so I didn't think it was me!

>>19461 man, somethings really wrong with your pc. All I could find about that had to do with server (admin) error. Are you setting up a server??? Maybe JC has a better answer to that..

I can confirm I have some powerful enemies!

We may have suffered in battle, but we can win the war! Together we can move forward, not backward. Upwards, not downwards. And twirling, always tiwrling!

I didn't notice anything..hell I even posted a few things. And no, I don't have twitter.

10/09/12(Mon)22:51

After several people took to Twitter attacking AnonymouseOwn3r, the hacker posted:

"People will not suffer because my attack to godaddy, i just wanna well you won't undestand [sic] because i did it"

The hacker cannot publicly explain why he took down godaddy because he would give Merlin's Bar unlimited publicity, which runs counter to his agenda.

But I want the hacker to know that WE KNOW what's what. Nice try, hacker!! Merlin's Bar is back and stronger than ever!!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

10/09/12(Mon)22:46

the New York Times reported:

"The person behind the Twitter account @AnonymousOwn3r took responsibility for the attack and said he had knocked out all of Go Daddy’s servers with what is known as a distributed denial of service attack, or DDoS, in which a site is flooded with traffic until it collapses under the load."

The article goes on to say:

"One of the Twitter accounts most frequently associated with Anonymous, @AnonyOps, distanced the group from the attack [and posts on Twitter]:

Godaddy technician trips over ethernet cord, pulling it from edge router. Blames Anonymous."
