>>16370 I fully agree Ob! I've already discussed the "metal gear" situation, and why I'm not converting it all! Was this damage because I upgraded to steel drive shaft, or was it the fifteen foot long cartwheel that did it?! It also broke the upper right front A-arm! It's better than a bent frame! Part of the fun is tearing the thing apart to fix it! Good thing the hobby store is fully stocked! ;)

27/04/12(Fri)11:35

>>16224 I will do no such thing. I agree with the steel upgrades as I was of the same mindset when I ran my RC trucks. The draw back was, as you see in >>16365 and >>16234 the plastic parts do break. As I replaced the broken parts with more rigid/stronger materials like steel or aluminum, the stresses went elsewhere. The swing arms didn't break anymore, but then I had to repair the frame where the arm mounted. And as far as the trans having plastic parts, I have seen some thermosets or ABS with glass fiber hold up pretty well to abuses. Run it till it breaks I say, how else are you going to know it's limits.

27/04/12(Fri)07:18
That's fast!

Are the parts inside the tranny plastic?

Breakdown!

The transmission started clicking the other day, so I watched some YT videos to see what's involved in fixing this! It really is simple to do! I found two teeth gone on the main differential gear! Checked with the hobby store, and they have all replacement parts for the tranny under $10.00!

No, they're fine! I just like to upgrade, and build on the thing! :D
The stock shafts are all hollowed-out plastic!
All four of the new ones don't even weigh two ounces!
I'm looking into what else I can add to it! :)
Here is the new shaft, old shaft, and the left-upper arm I shattered a couple of weeks ago!

21/04/12(Sat)20:00

60 dollars! I buy food for 2 weeks with that money. But are the original axles already damaged?

And you're welcome.

21/04/12(Sat)18:44

The steel ones won't get twisted from the torque! These puppie set me back $60.00!
Now, I've got to get the yard work done, or I won't have the time to install them! talk to you later! And thanks Grim! ;)

21/04/12(Sat)18:26

Steel? I prefer aluminium (weight is a bitch for RC).
And how much did these set you back?

Upgrade Time!

Upgrading to the steel constant velocity driveshafts!
I shall install them after I do some yard work!
Oldballs will probably say something's wrong with it! :p

08/04/12(Sun)13:14

>>15914 I know what you mean! I' did some yard work yesterday, (but not enough)! I kept thinking- "yeah, that's good enough for now, time to run the R/C!" I ran it till 8pm last night! ;D

08/04/12(Sun)10:21

Very nice! Now I might have to charge up my RC cars and give them a spin. I'm supposed to be doing jobs around the house!!! Thanks a bunch, SeaFox! XD

07/04/12(Sat)21:07

'mowing the grass' can be done with the revo! Why else did you bought it? ;)

07/04/12(Sat)19:48

>>15904 XD
I've just now got the damn thing tuned right! I had another casualty yesterday! The slipper clutch pads on the tranny blew apart!! I didn't tighten the clutch after break-in, and they were loose enough to fly out from the force! They gave me some free pads, and let me fix it there! Pretty simple! Then the guy helped me tune it for maximum power! But right now I'm mowing the grass, so be patient! ;D

>>15901>>15902 Seafox, ever heard of a camera stand? ;p

Or mount the camera on the vehicle. Duct tape the fucker!

07/04/12(Sat)19:08

>>15901 Because I haven't figured out how to hold the camera, and the transmitter at the same time! :p

07/04/12(Sat)19:03

why is there no home video of this?

07/04/12(Sat)17:12

>>15877 The repair kit came with the upper and lower arms, so at least I have my first spare part! The car won't get thrown into reverse because of internal safety device on the transmission! There's still a lot of programming for me to do on the transmitter!

06/04/12(Fri)23:03

read the manual of the transmitter. Every transmitter I own has the fail-safe function. It can even put it in reverse but that isn't recommended at full speed ;)

As long as you don't break the engine or transmission, costs will stay down. Although $7 for an 'A' is pricey ;p

06/04/12(Fri)21:50

First casualty! Yesterday, I broke the left front upper a-frame! I ran out of transmitter battery! When that happens, it goes into "coast" mode! I'd rather it put the brakes on! No big deal! $7 part, and part of the fun is repairing damage! ;D

05/04/12(Thu)22:22

>>15804 I'm getting around twenty minutes out of a tank now! I guess that's pretty good, as well as this thing runs! :)

03/04/12(Tue)12:48

>>15816 That nitro fuel really attracts the moisture! You spray WD-40 in the carb, and turn the engine over with the glow plug out to coat the piston, and sleeve with oil to keep it running like new! ;)

03/04/12(Tue)09:58

why did you sprayed it with wd40?

03/04/12(Tue)03:00

>>15804 Turns out it was not a dead starter battery! The engine was vapor-locked because of the WD-40 that I sprayed in it the day before!
I took it to the dive shop, and showed it to Scuba Jim! After I let him run it, and he saw what it can do, he told me he's selling his three R/C boats on eBay and picking one up! XD

02/04/12(Mon)22:29

First World Problems!! ;D

Battery already dead?!! Damn that's fast. How is the fuel consumption going?

02/04/12(Mon)21:19

After having this cool R/C for a few days, I've noticed a problem! The time to drive it!!!
After I broke-in the engine I've used it only Saturday, then it rained Sat night/Sunday morning so it's too wet out to run it! Now, just got home, took Venus for a walk, tried to start it, starter battery dead, now have to go teach a scuba class! NO TIME!! Good lord, I'm tweeting! Kill me now!! :p

01/04/12(Sun)19:30

>>15777 No you cant't, but it's completely un-nessesary! :p
>>15778 I thought about that, but video of it running around the yard would get boring!
A web cam would be pretty cool though!

01/04/12(Sun)18:41

Can you lock the diffs?

And mount a small camera on it ;)
It would be even better with a wifi camera; you could see where to drive ;D

01/04/12(Sun)13:24

Tanks 7 & 8 didjust fine! I may have to do some tuning, because I haven't popped any wheelies with it! But when it kicks into second gear- LOOK OUT!!! That thing flies! Even making very small changes in the high speed needle, drastically changes the fuel consumption!

31/03/12(Sat)20:19

As for the fuel time, I haven't clocked it yet!

31/03/12(Sat)20:16

>>15761 Yes it does! In fact, while finishing off break-in tank #5, it would lose the signal from the transmitter and just go to idle! I'd rather have it put the brakes on! :p I checked the receiver battery and it was fine! Turns out the trans/batteries were low!
Before the -waited for- sixth tank, I had to clean the air filter (as instructed) and top off the receiver battery!
Now I'm going to go cut the grass while waiting for the charge! ;)

31/03/12(Sat)20:08

does the remote have a fail-safe? If so see how far it still controls the model.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBsSLZTtlgQ
Or do it like in the vid ;D

How long does it go before a refuel?

31/03/12(Sat)19:26

>>15756 I'm ready for my sixth tank right now! Now I'm frightened! :p
I read all that in the book about the over revving!
That price included everything, (except the fuel) radio, battery packs, chargers, and the fueler tank!
That thing is so fast, that when it shifts into second gear, it's time to hit the brakes so I don't hit things! :D

31/03/12(Sat)17:53

Cool, I advise to mount the light system! Nothing beats racing then seeing where to go ;)

Wow, $560?!! Wicked! Don't rev too high!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7ATy9eWmxk
skip the video to 3:12

31/03/12(Sat)16:50

>>15751 It can even take the light system! Headlights, turn lights, tail/brake lights!
This beast was $560.00! The fuel is mixed, and it's- "Top Fuel Nitro 20%"! And it's about $30.00 a gallon! :S

31/03/12(Sat)15:21

>>15747 Supercool!! It is just like a real car, except that it is a RC! So next questions are; how much did you pay for it?
how much does the fuel costs?
And do you buy pre-mix or diy?

>>15741 Nah! I have a big back yard, and the Dog needs some exercise! :D
>>15743 >>15746 You're going to love this! Take a look at the bottom photo, and you will see a starter motor right next to the engine cylinder! Then, look at the bar behind the exhaust pipe! That's where you plug in this battery pack that cranks the engine, and heats up the glow plug, and also performs a diagnostic in case something is wrong, and wouldn't start it! It starts in about two seconds! When I did some research on this thing, it was said that it's the most advanced R/C truck in the world!
Built-in starter! How cool is that!? :D

31/03/12(Sat)10:53

Maybe there's a device that turns the wheels really fast to get the engine going.

31/03/12(Sat)08:35

Very cool!! How do you start it, similar like a lawnmower (pullcord) or with a electric starter?

Now of course I demand a video! ;D

31/03/12(Sat)03:11

Lotta stuff in those things. You gonna race others?
