The Old Town Pump!
22/06/10(Tue)22:10

This well was drilled on April 15, 1872! It was the first well in Clay county! It served the people of Knightsville for 81 years! It took just three pumps from me, and out came clean, cool water! :)

I have three wells here on the property! They're big enough to climb down into, but the water is foul!

Cold, clear water

My family owned a lake cottage resort from 1914 to 1968. Until the 50's, renters carried their water in pails as far as 500 feet from a "pitcher pump" which sat on 15 feet of pipe driven into the ground. The inexhaustible supply of water was exceedingly cold and delicious!

Awesome! My current house also got a modern water system fitted in 1953, which is also when the well in my front garden stopped being used by 3 houses.
