Had a crazy power cut last night. The power kept quickly powering on and off. The main part of the server is fine, but the both raid arrays are not at all happy.
The raid software claims it's busy doing stuff to fix it, but honestly who knows! XD
I would love to build a new server, which would make some of this maintenance simpler, but I'm not sure the budget allows for it. All my computers need updating at this point!?! About £10K would sort it all I think! XD
ARRGGHHHHH!!!! If fucking happened again last night!?!?!?! FFS!
All I know is something broke down the road, either a cable or transformer. Then last night the same thing happened again about 100 metres further along!
Annoyingly one 4TB drive is trashed, but when I remove it from the array the remaining drive mounts correctly and all is good.
I'm thinking of building a simple cheap and cheerful AMD Ryzen 5 4500 with 16Gb ram, maybe only 8Gb as I think I have some somewhere which will save £125. I'll add a couple of new 6Tb or 8Tb drives to replace the 2 4Tb drives and keep using my pair of 5Tb drives as well.
I had a UPS but it broke a while back. I had planned to fix it but life got in the way! XD Time to buy a new UPS as well!
