I think 50 yrs. ago the cell phone hit the market (don't quote me on that). Motorola offered it to the consumer for a mere $4000.00!

I remember the first carphone my dad had was huge. It was like a large desktop phone in the passenger foot-well as well as a desktop PC sized box in the boot to make it work! :D

The first handheld mobile phone (prototype) was demonstrated by John F. Mitchell and Martin Cooper of Motorola in 1973.
In 1983, the DynaTAC 8000x was the first commercially available handheld mobile phone.
