The 'metro' tiles start screen was and still is an abomination. It works okay on a phone and tablet but horrendous on a pc. Luckily with the .1 patch they 'fixed' that (boots directly to desktop) but it's still there. The very quick boot times (5.6sec, okay on a ssd but still faster than W7 on a ssd), also DirectX 11 support and that's about it what I like. There hasn't changed much, tbh. But I guess some people just want the 'good ol' days' to stay just that (old) ;)

W10 has the tiles in the start button function, which you can modify.. I'll try tomorrow if you can remove them all together or adjust them.

>>30536 But the nice Glass look of Win7 appears to be still missing :/
I was horrified how awful windows 8 looked when I first saw it, looked worse than Win95!

I installed Windows 10 preview on my work computer and everything runs fine. All (even not-so-legal) programs work, it looks much better, and yes the ' old style' start function is back!

I think I will upgrade if the review are positive.. I'm hoping that DirectX12 really is the bomb as they say it is (also running crossfire atm) http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/202407-directx-12-liquidvr-may-breathe-fresh-life-into-amd-gpus-thanks-to-asynchronous-compute

>>30499 A bit of snooping reveals it'd downloaded as a 'recommended update' in windows update, but the update doesn't really give details of what it actually is. The main idea behind this update is to let users know when windows 10 is available for them to download for free and the benefits of doing so. Sneaky buggers!

My laptop didn't had it either..maybe because I update it manually. The GWX folder on my W8.1 machine was created on the 5th of April.

I checked on 3 computers today, two Windows 8.1 and one Windows 7 machines. And they have the windows 10 installer files, even on the copied version (W7).
