Aboard ship, we got paid in two dollar bills one payday. The people in San Diego were flooded with them. It was the way the treasury would put all those things into circulation. Since people consider them lucky and save them, I'll bet they're still around some where. Wow, that was over 50 yrs. ago. I remember when they were counting out the money there was always a man on either end of the table with a side arm.
During WWII, My Dad was picking up the payroll for his ship in New York! Two of them were riding the subway wearing their sidearms! Dad told me no one would come near them on the train! When they sat down, he said there was more than ten feet of empty seats in all directions!
Seems like the world is reverting back to the time like the old west here in the U.S. when everyone carried a pistol on their hip. 70% of the cars on the road have a hand gun within here in Houston. Two years ago a law was passed making it legal to have a firearm on the front seat. Guess the lawmakers decided to give the common citizen a fighting chance.
