About 12 miles from me, 5 dead. Worst area accident in memory. A guy with 2 previous felonies had been drinking and was driving illegally. He passed this crop sprayer on a blind no pass curve and struck a van carrying 13 Amish farmers, forcing it into the path of the sprayer. 5 killed, all others injured, some seriously. The drunk wasn't injured. One of his felonies was for bolting while being arrested, jumping into a police car and leading the police in a lengthy chase down the wrong lane of a divided highway.
>>10695 - Yes, the Amish often hire people to drive them to distant relatives, etc..
This was a trip organized by "Cornell Cooperative Extension", a university based organization that does research in the areas of agriculture and food systems. The purpose was for the Amish to learn new crop growing techniques by visiting other "old order" farms that had developed better farming practices. They were headed to a farm which uses greenhouses.
