still working on this.. making a zillion tweaks and trying to get it right. never used a skydome before but I think it looks really good.

this frame took nearly 2 minutes to render. 1200 to go!! :-\

to be fair, i had AO set at 50% and once i turned the camera into the "sunset", i faded the AO out and processing sped up.

You can add an ambient lighting node to the ambient occlusion node, to fake a fill light.

55 seonds per frame is very fast. Ambient occlusion alone takes me about 3 min. per frame. Maybe I need a new computer.

>>10184 thank you ftcyp! i used some ambient occlusion and environment lighting instead of fill - i thought the result was much more satisfying. rendering each frame (with the skydome) took about 55 seconds, on average. total of 1140 frames. :)

Great job!
How many lights did you use? It looks like you didn't use any fill light at all.
How long did it take you to render that?

update: yes, you can do a skybox in ae. yes i have tried it and composited (which firefox says is not a real word, along with "skybox", "ae", and "firefox") and i am not loving my keylighting abilities nor the final render.

i think i'll continue wearing down my computer by processing it all in blender :)

ftcyp, can a skydome be made in after effects?? i ask because i like to move my camera around ALOT and i need a 360 background for the scene.. never seen a tut on that type of thing, but I will research it now. thanks!

skywraith - what is what? :D

Normaly I would suggest rendering this without the background. Add it in post, on After Effects or something. Much easier on the computer.

What is it?
