I removed the water cooling block of the EVGA GTX 980 and installed the Raijintek Morpheus II vga cooler with some spare Noctua A12x25 fans. It became easier to handle but it's so wide (4 slots).
That is a monster of a cooler setup. I guess you try to save on losing slots by finding a mobo with the graphic card slots on the edge so the cooler doesn't block anything.
I do NOT recommend the cooler as it's a pita to install. The manual shows the wrong alignment for the holes, the sticky pads don't stick half of the time, the fan brackets don't hold the fans snugly in place I used zip-ties. Still it does cool the gpu as good as the water block.
