The UK postal service was sold off by the Conservatives years ago when David Cameron was in charge. The prices have gone way up, the service way down. The private sector always fucks up public services.
It's funny you mention that. PostNL, our national postal service aka Universal Postal Service, do have laws they need to follow, and can get fined if they break them. Also note, PostNl is government owned. But the private owned postal services only need to follow the standard (EU) laws.
My issue was I selected a different pickup location through their own website that apparently wasn't an UPS pick-up site any more. But according to the UPS delivery app it was most definitely there. So it took more than a month to retrace, emails to sender, emails to UPS, to find my package. Only to pick it up at a site 10 minutes of cycling away. Doable for me but what if you're disabled or elder? At least PostNL, DPD, and DHL have strategic placed non-stores-stores* at walking distances.
Why do we need another American postal service when we already have DHL? And they, DHL, actually have a working and simple website & app, plus fixed pickup points. The UPS pickup points seem to change with the wind, every month a different location and always further away.
*The previous government (Mark Rutte, VVD) decided it was cheaper to forgo with actual PostNL stores and integrate them in everyday stores like supermarkets or general stores.
This worked sooooo great /s
Last week I finally retrieved the package. This saga is closed. What a shit show. On the label they wrote "package refused" as if I ever saw it, dick heads.
They still do.
"We couldn't reach you." is their most common excuse. Well, if you don't bother getting out the van of course you don't. Luckily there's a access point just a few meters from ..but hold up, they couldn't reach that either! Now I gotta freaking travel half the fucking city to collect my heavy-ass package.
Of all the major delivery companies I hate UPS the most. Even their website is a fucking mess.
Rage mode off. Thank you for reading and have a nice day.
A former neighbor of mine worked for UPS, and said the same thing! After he FINALLY became a driver, he was attacked by four guys who beat the crap out of him, and stole his truck! Now he has seizures, and can't be a driver anymore! So he retired, and he & his wife sold the house, (to the now deceased Herb next door) and they travel all over the U.S. in a RV! She does the driving!
i worked the graveyard shift for UPS one year, loading trucks. what a hellish job. part time work starting at 3:30am till 8:30am and physically demanding the whole time. room for growth within the company, but i was not going to load trucks for 5 years to eventually get on a waiting list to be a driver..
