Naturally, the long barrel gave the rifle greater accuracy (some being quite accurate to 250 yds) But to gain the distance and keep the same powder load the shot size was reduced to that of a pea (hence the name "pea-shooter").

I think they put in more black powder, so that won't happen

With a barrel that long, the round would come out at a crawl!
But it looks more like a shotgun!
