I finally decided it was time for an e-bike, and a normal one.
So I got this Giant AnyTour E+ 4 DD with a 625kW battery through a work lease plan. Which means I don't have to pay for it at all :D
And so far it's been great! I'm still sweating but that's mainly due to the weather. It has 7 levels of assist yet I only use the 2nd to lowest (Tour), although if you change it to a higher level just to scale a hill and set it back to a lower level it doesn't effect the battery much. Now it does have this annoying resistance at 26.2 km/h (cause government law) but with sheer leg power you can stomp past that. And downhill it easily goes 50 km/h :D
The current range is about 85 to 90 km or about 8 or 9 days before a recharge. And it's recharged in 4 hours or so.
I did have to get used to the weight, at ~27 kg it's a heavy beast but it does have an 85Nm motor for assist.
The GT Omega I had before was too difficult to add additional hardware. The new Sim-Lab GT1 Pro Sim Racing Cockpit uses 80x40 alu profiles. Now I can add my HOTAS to this rig, and later I'll use it with my VR headset.
I think it's time to build a new server. I would like to use AMD rather than Intel, because fuck Intel. It's a small home server so it wants to be power efficient, nothing fancy etc.
So I look up what AMD has available and fuck me is there a shit ton of CPUs available!?!
It's interesting that they are making PCI 3, 4 & 5 at the same time. And honestly PCI speed is not a big concern for a home server because it'll be running SATA HDDs for storage.
Built-in GPU is a must because there is no point in spending a lot more money on a seperate GPU for the one in a while occasion I need to see it on a display.
One down side of PCI 5 is that the mobos are double the price of PCI 3, but PCI 3 does feel maybe a little old at this point. Maybe it's nothing to worry about, I don't really need anything more than that!?!
I like the Ryzen 5 5600GT, great specs except for being PCI 3. The Ryzen 5 7400 looks like a good alternative with PCI 5, but the mobos are very expensive.
First world problems can be exhausting XD
And on the issue of RAM I'll be buying second hand off ebay. Brand new RAM prices can fuck all the way off!!!
Had a crazy power cut last night. The power kept quickly powering on and off. The main part of the server is fine, but the both raid arrays are not at all happy.
The raid software claims it's busy doing stuff to fix it, but honestly who knows! XD
I would love to build a new server, which would make some of this maintenance simpler, but I'm not sure the budget allows for it. All my computers need updating at this point!?! About £10K would sort it all I think! XD
