>>25359 In scrambles and flat-track (a lazy "C" pattern) the straight-a-ways (back part of the "C") speeds reached 60mph or so. Hard to tell with no speedometer. Those road racing folk slide down at over 100mph and it not only scrapes off their leather but skin also. And then there were those times when I'd go down in a turn and the guy behind me would just drive right over my body. Locking handle bars was always fun too.

>>25350 Pure speed. That road racing stuff always scared me.

It's where I got my professional numbers from AMA. When I got back stateside, I raced for 6 months and ran out of money. I had trophies taller that 5' high. I won 3rd place Texas Nationals in 1964. Beer, girls, racing. Had to get a job. AMA gave no cash awards then. Good times.

Picture is a little old and fuzzy but this Bonneville was made (I think) in 1963. Great dirt bike and 500 CC. Not too many had the high exhaust pipes. I was 23 yrs. old then. This is Hawaii.
