Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan/Canada

I'll be leaving Friday, May 31st for Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. I have a job there which will last 2 1/2 months (Aug 14th). I think I'll have use of a computer and will post pics if I can. The lady I rent from needs help finishing the remodeling she started a year ago. Lotta work including painting, handrail, electrical, shelving and trim. Big house, 4 baths & 5 bedrooms. Hope we can communicate; stay clean. Bob.

>>24268 Pretty sharp, OB but Bob-o ain't gonna climb on that roof-o. (that's Mexican talk).
Some very brave men got up there.

Glad to see that you made it and are able to still communicate with us. Which ridge are you planning on putting a cuppola on?

>>24266 Lady was telling me the snow was 5 feet deep at her back door a month ago. The snow gets about one foot thick on the roof and slides off. 'course it doesn't melt so it just piles up. Chilly today 50 degrees w/15 mph winds off the lake. Even the people that live here had coats on. I won't be going to Canada; No passport for one thing and no interest for the other. Went to Vancouver 50 or so years ago and really liked it. Clean city, nice people and 11% alcohol content in the beer.
The siding on this house is vinyl but looks like cedar shakes 30 feet away.

Glad you made it in 1 piece. Sweet house, I'll bet they see snow every winter? Hence the porch.

So will you travel abroad? Into the great unknown, aka Canada? ;)

Here is the house where I'll be working. Glad I could get the card reader working; you know me and machinery.

Well, the plane didn't crash as you can see and I'm here in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Haven't done anything except talk about work to be done and eat. I'll try to get my card reader and camera chip working on this lap top soon as possible. I hope I'll have time to get all the work done; she's thought of extra things to do. She's also been a good friend for over 20 years so we won't lack for conversation. Great people here but they talk funny.

Sorry to miss you before you went, but hopefully you'll be back with us shortly. Have a great adventure :D

>>24243 I certainly thought about driving. I would have loved to meet you and foxman and to shake your hand but the customer is covering all costs and hotels, food and gas for 8 days would have been quite expensive. She's in the travel business so I doubt she paid much of anything for the ticket. The city has 14thousand or so residents and just may have tool rentals.

>>24240 Sorry to hear about the choice of flight over the road. I was going to offer to have you stop by and share a fine meal on your way through. Fox would be on your way too.
As far as tools go, I would be confident that a rental store would be within range of your needs.

>>24234>>24235>>24237 Bob will try and do everything he possibly can to keep the crew happy. I hope the work is worth taking pictures of; most of it will be painting and it might be a little boring to see wires in a box. However, I'm supposed to install a stainless steel handrail (just a straight run) in the stairwell. Never cut stainless with a blade before but I'm about to learn. I shipped about two hundred pounds of tools and other items (they are already there) by UPS. I tried to think of everything but you know how that goes. It's an 8 day round trip by driving so I elected to fly; don't like flying. My arms are going to be so sore.
Some of the work might involve a table saw so that might be a problem...we'll see.
Packing and planning have kept me away from Merlin this last week or so and working up there maybe even more. I'll do my best. You guys need to go out and round up more gabbers for Merlin while I'm gone...just a thought.

Safe travels GG. Are you taking the van and all your tools up with you or is there a supply of implements there, awaiting your skills.

30/05/13(Thu)12:44

Defiantly post some picture if you can. I'd like to see your work GG.

Good luck, Bob. Drive safe, Bob. Snap away, Bob.
