Hurricane Ophelia

Since this hurricane hit Wales, I was wondering if anyone on the other side of the pond was affected by it?

Just checked with Google Maps, I live ~8 hours away from you, JC. 137 hours if I had to walk/swim.

Is this about right?

You blokes should live where I do.
People living in the South (U.S.) totally destroy the King's English.

You only live 1h33 min from Whitchurch. That's pretty close, closer than me to you, or you to London. It's all about perspective. (Am I winning at logic?)

You English all pronounce stuff different than the written stuff. It's really annoying.

Lempster, got it.

For the record I don't live near Whitchurch, but yes it's a good name. I live near a town called Leominster, but it's pronounced 'Lempster' for some reason!?! :S

Good to hear all is well on the other side of the Atlantic.
>>33966 Yes. Dust from the elephants... works for me.
>>33967 Whitchurch...cool name.

HE'S ALIVE!

Damn you no-instant-refresh page!

He lives nearby (Whitchurch, I think) or at least too/very close to Wales, where she struck.

BBC said they are trying to bring (back-up) the power to the Welsh, which means a large portion will get electricity.

We had some strong wind but nothing to worry about. The strange thing was that in the morning before the wind came the sky was overcast and the sun was orange! Apparently it was dust from the sahara desert that caused the sun to change colour.

>>33956 I don't know exactly how close the hurricane came to his house.. it wasn't tremendously strong but bad enough.

Oh dear, I hope JC is fine.

Over here the only thing we noticed was a sudden raise in temperature and no rain, yesterday it was 25C/77F. Expected to have normal weather & temp of around 14C/57F on Friday :(
