>>26606 It's a Jekyll/Hyde type situation. The work side has to learn to leave the fun side alone. The creations don't necessarily have to be engineered. They wouldn't be fun! Work will take care of itself and learning how to lay that pencil down and pick up the fun pencil just takes a little time. I made that transition a while back.

This is the back side. This way, she can hang it on the wall Or set it on a table and have both sides decorative.

Case in point

I made this for my mother for Christmas. The block on the right has Christmas songs on each side. Pull the block out and roll it to select a song to sing (another block will fall down and replace it, there are three total). Pull out and roll the block on the left to pick if you sing solo, duet, or all sing.

There where days where this thing consumed my thoughts. Left work early a few times so it could build it.

>>26595 the "Pack 243" is our Cub Scout pack that is hosting the races. The cape is there just because, visually I felt it needed a little something more. These really are a treat to do when they come together. Inspiration has to drive the creation though. I have been asked to make some other items, but I was just not as impressed with those as it was someone else's vision and I just did not connect with it. This whole creative artistic side of me is something rather new to me and I am finding it to be quite overwhelming, almost debilitating at times. It is really creating a struggle with the engineer in me.

Superb!

Wonderful! You have rocker arm parts for little footsies! Does the cape mean something and/or Pack 243? Great imagination and creativity.

Thank you for the compliment. And no, no performance improvement noticed. But it does make my car more easily identifiable than the other 8 maroon prius's like it in my town.

>>25842 Actually the painting process was really easy. I did the larger details with a small hobby brush that I trimmed the bristles down on to about an eight of an inch. The shorter bristles allow more control for detail work. The stitches were something I went into cautiously, then I recalled seeing my father pin stripe detail with a screw driver. I decided to use a dull exacto knife blade as my brush. The with the paint on the tip I drug over the stitches and taadaa! It worked great.

The extra detail really brings it to life. Good call.

>>25836 Did you buy this/make it? Plastic/metal. Have you noticed a surge of power where the rubber meets the road?
You did a very detailed paint job here and I'll bet it was a lot harder than you'd imagined, huh?

Fat Man and Little Boy. I just cleared my workspace of about 10 years of scrap lumber pieces. Simply ran out of room. The trophy was made up of scrap parts from the company I work for, that I had collected over the past three years.

I never can remember the two names of those bombs.
I like the idea that you can gather together stuff laying around the shop and create a trophy for the event. I keep old scraps of wood and even though they gather dust they get used sooner or later.

This is a great idea, and I love the trophy :D

Ding ding ding. GG got it. "Fat Man" was the bomb that this was inspired by. Hence a rich and tasty meal makes a "fat man".
I have cooked fresh hand made pizza's in the kitchen at work. Normally I and others will cook at home and then warm it here. Sometimes it's slow cooker meals bubbling all morning long until lunchtime. Yes, paper plates, but we opt for the fork and spoon to be separate utensils (we are big operators that way). I personally have brought in my own silverware for me to use.
My offering so far have been: Hamburgers, Brats, Zomboozie (a goulash type dish), Homemade Pizza, Delivery Pizza.

I have eaten many new indian dishes, shrimp sandwhiches, baked potato bar, roast pork, jambalaya, and many others here.

Thank you for the compliment, GG.

>>25539 Big Boy lives again! How do you get the food to the workplace? Do you cook it there? Paper plates and sporks?
Nice job on the A-bomb.

This is a trophy that I made for a lunch group at work. We have a round-robin type luncheon on Fridays. One person of the group takes his/her turn providing lunch for the other 17 members of the group. The best (chosen by ballot) meal of the motnh will be awarded this traveling trophy.
